Course content
Content: - Introduction into subject, its aims, organization of meetings and correspondence and conditions for attestation - Main overview of traditions and trends in this field - Social pedagogy and its development- historical inspiration (work of important personalities from ancient times to early modern times, who can be taken as initiators of social-pedagogical reflections about the relation between environment and education of a person - European and Czech roots of social pedagogy in 19.th and 20.th century- personalities, issues and tasks of forming social pedagogy - Social pedagogy as a scientific discipline and study field, nowadays issues of social pedagogy, social pedagogue and his competences - Education in context of social environment (finding a way to education, options and borders of education, education- socialization- social environment) - Selected issues of relation between education and environment demonstrated on examples characterizing natural and institutional education - Family as social environment- some pathological components of family education.

Learning outcomes
Social pedagogy as a subject is covering mostly the history, important personalities, development and the importance of social pedagogy. It also covers relationships between the key terms of social pedagogy (education- environment- socialization), explanation of the connection between social pedagogy and the educational impact of teachers. Consequently, it deals with basic characteristics of factors influencing human personality in a social context and characteristics of social- pedagogical approaches in prevention and solving the negative impacts of social environment on the individual in context of school primary prevention. In applied part also to formulate prevention or solution for selected educational problem, which can possibly be dealt by school assistant or teacher dealt with in practice.
The students will acquire a wide range of knowledge primarily in the set of problems concerning the prevention system and social-work. They will be well versed in the prevention system of the Czech Republic and they will able to make full use of the acquired knowledge in various spheres and levels of prevention and social-work.

Didactic test

Before the oral exam the student will hand in a seminar paper on a given topic in the extent of 5 pages minimum and a research of 5 pieces of specialized literature.
