Course content
1. Introduction to criminology, criminological theories. 2. Phenomenology of criminality. The etiology of criminality. 3. Offenders. 4. Victims of crime. 5. Crime Prevention. 6. Drugs and crime. 7. Juvenile delinquency. 8. Definition of terms - property, economic, violent, immoral crime. Summary and solving ambiguities.

Learning outcomes
The aim is of this subject is to acquaints students with the subject and main tasks of criminology, its status, structure and dynamics, approaches of criminological theories to the phenomenon of crime and its prehension and explanations. The course also focuses on the issues of crime prevention and it specifically deals with some types of crimes, especially with juvenile deliquency and crime perpetrated on youth.
The students, who have completed any course of studies in the frame of the Security-Legal Specialization, will acquire a wide range of knowledge primarily in the set of problems concerning the protection of health, life and property. They will be able to orient in the rules of law of the Czech Republic and they will be able to use the acquired knowledge in various spheres and levels of public administration.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Essay, Student performance assessment

Seminar paper based on studied literature. Checking continuously and during examination. The student is supposed to prove his/her knowledge by passing a final test with a result better than 60 percent of the maximum number of points. In case of a lower number of points the student is allowed to take an oral examination.
