Course content
1. Introduction to methodology: personality of the researcher, planing own research project-research problem, questions, hypothesis, research concept. 2. Defining a research problem and key hypotheses. 3. Qualitative and quantitative approaches in pedagogical research. Validity and reliability, strategies, types of empirical measurement. 4. Key phases in empirical research. 5. Research techniques and methods: observation. 6. Questionnaire, scaling, interview. 7. Content analysis. 8. Projective methods. 9. Pedagogical experiment. 10. Didactic tests. 11. Sociometry. 12. Introduction to statistical work with data. 13. Methods and types of qualitative research.

Learning outcomes
Students are introduced to the basic qualitative and quantitative methods in sociological and pedagogical research. It offers a survey of various approaches to realising a research proposal, and explains the underpinning epistemological principles and practical steps, including the specific phases in its preparation. It specifically focuses on methods, procedures and techniques of research, such as, for example, interviews, questionnaires, and so on. It also introduces students to the basic statistical terminology, such as, coherence, absolute coherence, ranking of variables, arithmetic average, median, decisive deviation, correlational coefficients, etc.
Students will be able to prepare their own research project and explain the function of its constituent parts.
