Learning outcomes
The aim is to develop a theoretical basis for the future development of teacher identity in the following areas: general pedagogy, education, historical development of pedagogical thought, history of Czech schooling with a focus on the 1920-1940s, alternative education, teachers' knowledge, sociology of education, conceptualizing pupils as a subjects of education, and basic approaches to classroom management.
Students should acquire theoretical knowledge required for developing teacher identity in the following areas: general pedagogy, education as a basic requirement for a social development and a cultivation of humanness, history of educational ideas with a specific focus on the tension between free education and the traditional schooling, history of reform schooling in Czechoslovakia in the 1920's and 1930's, issues in alternative education, teachers' knowledge, sociology of education, and classroom management and discipline.
