Course content
Familiarization with basic terms /alternative, alternative schools, etc./ Experimental education system of 1920s and reformatory efforts in Czechoslovakia till 1939 Types of alternative schools Waldorf education (specifics of Waldorf pedagogy) Maria Montessori (the employment of Montessori's system in preschool education) Jenaplan, Freinet school, Dalton plan Modern alternatives (division and its presence in the CR) Healthy nursery school - health support model programme Začít spolu - alternative educational programme

Learning outcomes
The aim of the seminars is to make students familiar with the alternative approaches in preschool education which tries to achieve a complex children's education. The notion of an "alternative school" will be considered, especially in relation to the humanizing and democratizing influence that the alternative educational system always offers. To see the alternative educational programmes in a larger context of current tendencies in preschool education. The alternatives in education - alternative school, alternative education, types of alternative schools. The main focus on: Healthy nursery school, the educational programme "Začít spolu", Maria Montessori's alternative educational system, Waldorf nursery school and church nursery school and other alternatives.
The aim of the course is to acquire following skills: orientation in various alternative approaches in preschool education. Ability to consider the alternative educational programmes in a larger context of current tendencies in preschool education.
