Course content
1. Basic knowledge of general psychology and personality psychology, which are essential for preschool teacher's work. Students get to know a brief history of psychology, mainly with the ideas of humanistic, constructivist, cognitive psychology. Emphasis is put on understanding of personal approach and connection between the above mentioned idea sources with the principles of contemporary preschool education conception (State curriculum, White paper). Theory display through educational practice examples. Personality determination - inborn + acquired Child's socialization (family, family educational style, multicultural context, clash between family and social values) Attachment Personality structure Temperament Character Skills Normality 2. Introduction to study A) work with reference books and writing of specialized papers: Familiarity with basic reference books Awareness of specialized journals Search for literary sources and quoting rules Searching the internet, electronic databases Content and formal editing of specialized papers (seminar paper, presentation, review, case histories, bachelor thesis) B) familiarization with the way of study at PF JČU: premises, library, teachers, habits, etc.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Activating (simulations, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The aim is to acquire basic knowledge of psychological theory and the skill of its application. The course has two parts: 1. Basic knowledge of general psychology and personality psychology, which are essential for preschool teacher's work. 2. Introduction to study A) working with reference books and writing of specialized papers B) familiarization with the way of study at PF JČU: premises, library, teachers, habits, etc.
Acquisition of important knowledge and terms of psychological theory Understanding of basic term sof personality psychology and ability to apply the knowledge Managing of personal approach within upbringing and education Understanding of connections between psychological theory and pedagogical practice Skill of searching for literary sources and formal editing of specialized papers.
Prerequisites
Interest in study of teacher's profession, one's own and critical thinking, active approach to the study.

Student performance assessment, Seminar work

Working out a seminar paper on the basis of seminar topics (own choice of form)
