Course content
- Games as a means of communication and method of education; - paidia and ludus - a game and the child´s age; - Fink, Huizinga, Caillois, Příhoda - the philosophy of games; - the laws of games; - free play; - classification of games according to motivation (alea; ilinx; mimicry; agon); - the peril of agon games and pro-social games; - game adapting and producing new games with regard to the child with special educational needs; - role playing games posing a hazard to the SEN children; - story-telling games; - the teacher´s presentation of a story

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students into elementary laws of games based on the concepts formulated by Fink, Huizinga and Berne and on the game classification according to Caillois in relation to the contemporary concept of kindergarten games, teaching the trainees to perceive and respect the laws of games in kindergarten activities.
Competence to adapt rule-based games to suit a particular age group and to include essential features of a spontaneous game activity; to adapt games with respect to educational targets; to respond to children´s special needs; to convert agonal games to pro-social games; and to adjust children´s free play to diagnostical purposes.
