Course content
1.-2. Pedagogy, subject and methods of research, pedagogy disciplines. 3.-4. Basic terms in pedagogy (education - education, learning, categories of objectives and content of education, learning, teaching). Current education theories. 5.-6. Biological and sociological conditions of education, education and society. Influence of social, science and psychological factors on education. Enlightenment of pupils with some handicap, types of interaction, care provided to talents. 7.-8. Education in antique and Middle Ages. Scholastics and humanism (F. Rabelais, M. de Montagne, J. A. Komensky). 9.-10. Pedagogy in 18th and 19th Century (J. J. Pestalozzi, J. J. Rousseau, J. F. Herbart). 11.-12.New education movement (pedagogic reformism) and main approaches to education from the end of 19th and beginning of 20th Century (J. Dewey, M. Montessori, R. Steiner, P. Petersen, V. Příhoda). 13.-14. Current development in school system (reforms, approaches to changes in educational process).

Learning outcomes
The objective of this subject is to introduce to the students areas of pedagogy and help them to understand broader context of their field of study, learn about pedagogy as a specific discipline of science and learn basic terminology. Within the history of pedagogy students.
