Course content
1. Special needs education - subject, field of study, interdisciplinary relations, system 2-3. Approach to people with disabilities in a historical context 4-5. Characteristics of target groups of special needs education 6. Terminology in special needs education - development and current status 7. Methods of special needs education 8-9. Comprehensive rehabilitation 10. Current paradigm, concept models and principles of approach 11-12. Integration and inclusion 13. System of education of persons with disabilities 14. Counseling system for people with disabilities

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with special education as a scientific field and to define its interdisciplinary relationships . Special attention is focused on the creation and development of special education, at its current concepts and perspectives and also in relation to the basic special educational terminology . A significant proportion of hours is devoted to historical developments in care , help and support aimed at people with special needs and their current system of education .

Prerequisites
- understand the terminology field and actively use it - to distinguish basic categories of disability or social disadvantage - interpret and reflect on the historical context of care for people with disabilities- Interpret and reflect the historical context of the development of special education - to differentiate sub- discipline field- Specify the current trends in the integration of persons with disabilities and socially disadvantaged in society - to define the basic factors affecting the integration process - defining characteristics of a partial means of comprehensive rehabilitation process
