Course content
School experience will be provided throughout the term in special kindergartens focused on speech therapy; hearing impairment therapy; and ophthalmic therapy (namely specialised departments of medical faculties). Students will become familiar with the functioning of a particular kindergarten; with the composition of the observed children´s group (including their documentation); and with the peculiarities of teaching at the special kindergarten in question. By taking an active part in teaching, students will function as the teacher´s assistants under the supervision of the Faculty trainer or an appointed kindergarten teacher, improving their communicative competence. Their activities and findings will be continously recorded in their school experience log (including records of their observation; individual perception of their experience; documentation of the kindergarten in question). Students are bound to maintain secrecy. The experience will continually be analysed by the Faculty trainer and the appointed kindergarten teacher.

Learning outcomes
The aim of School Experience is to introduce students to the setting of a special kindergarten and its management through observing teaching methods and procedures.
The capacity of planning and encouraging children´s activities; the basic competence to assist with special teaching procedures.

A broad understanding of basic special pedagogy

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Systematic student observation, Student portfolio analysis

Active participation; producing a casuistry; keeping an experience log; completing the case study of a particular child.
