Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquire an integrative view of the findings of cognitive psychology. The course develops and integrates knowledge from cognitive psychology, addresses the interrelationships between the psychology of emotion and the psychology of motivation, and focuses on an interactional approach to intellectual functioning and development. Main topics: 1. Cognition in motivational and affective contexts. 2. Motivational effects on attention, cognition and performance. 3. Effects of emotions on learning and memory. 4. Explicit and implicit attitudes 5. A constructionist approach to emotions 6. Metacognition, emotion regulation and self-regulation 7. Interest, a motivational variable that links affective and cognitive functions 8. Interaction of cognitive, motivational and affective processes in normality and pathology (anxiety, depression)
