Course content
1. Basic concepts of intercultural psychology 2. Personal, ethnic/national identity 3. Psychological characteristics of cultures, culture standards 4. Cultural and other social-psychological differences and similarities among people 5. Significant factors influencing development of cultural identity and intercultural competence 6. Stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination 7. Intercultural communication and competence 8. Multicultural problems in educational process 9. Multicultural problems at the work place and public life 10. Globalisation - advantages and disadvantages from the viewpoint of intercultural psychology 11. Cultures in ČR (presentations of student's projects) 12. Close and far cultures (presentations of student's projects)

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Monitoring, Demonstration, Projection, Laboratory, Activating (simulations, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The aims: Introduction into psychological sources of "cultural" behaviour - as well as risks of TOLERANCE (or intolerance respectively) in personal life or at education towards understanding and civil involvement: Intercultural (=referring to relationships between two or more different cultures, as well as their members) psychology, its basic concepts. Personal, ethnic /national identity - psychological sources. Psychological characteristic of culture. Searching of actual sources of attitudes and habits, featuring "man's culture". Meaning and impact of family, institutions and civil society in separate "cultures". Personality and INDIVIDUALITY in separate cultures and religions.
Personal and civil skills for intercultural communication, as: 1. Knowledge of various ethnic and cultural groups living in Czech, so as European society, 2. Profound understanding for situations and relationships in multicultural context. 3. Skill for orientation in culturally pluralist world, so as for exploiting of intercultural relations and dialogues for enriching of oneself or others, 4. Skill to deal with people of culturally different origin 5. Helpful and reasoned approach to dealing with a problematical state of affairs. 6. Tolerance, respect and openness to different groups and life manners, 7. Consciousness of necessity of personal involvement, willingness to create friendly multicultural ambiance.
