Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject of intercultural education and self-education is to understand the cultural anchoring of man in society, both at the level of awareness of his own cultural concepts and norms, as well as in the understanding of socio-cultural diversity and understanding of different social groups. Through the introduction of the habits of groups of different ethnic and national origins living in the territory of the Czech Republic, the subject is able to understand the behavior and motivation of these persons. Through discussions and reports on different cultures and subcultures and through dialogue and demonstration methods, emphasis is placed on increasing competences in intercultural communication with individuals from different socio-cultural groups. The partial aim is the ability to focus on the topics of prejudices and stereotypes and the ability to work with their presence in class. The practical output is the creation of intercultural sensitivity and the possibility of its use in the teaching and education of pupils with a socio-cultural environment and pupils with a different mother tongue.
The goal consists in acquiring deeper understanding of situations and relations in multicultural context. Based on the acquired knowledge, development of competence for handling people with culturally different background is expected: interpretations and approaches to solution of problematic situations, engagement and ability to develop a friendly multicultural environment.
