Course content
1. Traditional and contemporary approaches to emotions. 2. Emotions and adaptation processes. 3. Core themes of basic emotions. 4. Emotions and cognition. 5. Sress and coping. 6. Problem and emotions focused coping. 7. School stress and strategies of coping with it. 8. Role of emotions in coping with the school stress

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
Emotions; traditional and current approaches to studies of emotions. Functions of emotions. Mutual relations of emotions and cognition. Emotion regulation. Stress and coping mechanisms. Impact of stress on psychic processes and somatic states. Coping strategies - problem oriented coping and emotions oriented coping, approach and avoidant strategies. School stress, factors facilitating and impeding coping with the school stress.
Student is well oriented in various approaches to the emotions' studies, has basic knowledge in emotion regulation and in relations of emotions and cognition. Student knows the problems related to school stress, has knowledge of coping strategies and the role of emotions in coping with the school stress.
