Agrarian aspects of the European integration; 11. Environmental ideology and movement; 12. Political process in rural municipalities; 13. Rural development and globalization; Seminars: 1. Representation of agrarian and rural interests; 2. Agriculture and countryside in the Czech political programmes I.; 3. Agriculture and countryside in the Czech political programmes II.; 4. Citizens' participation in local public life; 5. Local voting system; 6. Regional voting system; 7. Voter turnout in comparison; 8. Political parties in rural area; 9. Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
Main objective of the course is to introduce students to the basic concepts and theoretical approaches of political science to agrarian and rural questions. The second objective is to put these specific questions into the context of political transformation and European integration. Special attention will be paid to local political life in rural municipalities.
Students understand the basic principles of political system, representation of interests, mediation between citizens and political power, participation of citizens, legitimacy of power, voting system, regional and local politics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Seminar work

Credit Requirements: Seminar paper and its presentation. The list of topics for the seminar paper will be available on: moodle.jcu.cz Credits will be awarded not earlier than 14 days before the end of the semester in accordance with the measure of Dean No. 124/2017 Article 15. Examination Requirements: Oral examination. The examinations will be written 3 weeks before the beginning of the examination period in accordance with the measure of Dean No. 124/2017 Article 15.
