Lectures: 1 - Introduction of three pluralistic aspects. 2 - Pluralism in economic theory: Behavioural economics. 3 - Pluralism in economic theory: Environmental economics and sustainability in economics. 4 - Pluralism in economic theory: Ecological institutional economics. 5 - Pluralism in economic theory: Economics of crime. 6 - Interdisciplinarity and pluralism: Economics and sociology (informal food production) 7 - Interdisciplinarity and pluralism: The value of labour. 8 - Pluralistic methodology: Qualitative research in social science. 9 - Pluralistic methodology: Non-equilibrium simulations in economics. 10 - External speaker I 11 - External speaker II 12 - External speaker III 13 - Final summary, students' presentations The content of the seminars reflect the content of the lectures.

Learning outcomes
|
The course aims to present pluralistic thinking in economics, namely its three aspects: economic theory, methodology and interdisciplinarity. During the course, lectures and seminars of various teachers from socio-economic branches are held. Several lectures of practitioners are part of the course. The course was created as a response to the international student's call "Pluralism in Economics". Faculty of Economics, USB was first Czech economic faculty which supported this call.
Students will understand pluralistic thinking in economics and relationship of economics to other social sciences. Students will also be able to critically assess various socio-economic features and write texts on such topic.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Seminar work
Credit requirements: Attendance at least 75 %, 3 written assignments (essays of 2-3 pages) and presentation, all dealing with the topic of lectures or external speakers. One midterm test. Preparation for the course includes individual literature study. Credits will be awarded not earlier than 14 days before the end of the semester in accordance with the measure of Dean No. 124/2017 Article 15.
