Course content
Suggested topics of consultations: 1. The development stages of the political thinking and political philosophy; 2. The basic political science theory; 3. Political ideology; 4. Political process and the problem of legitimacy; 5. The function of elections in modern democracy, electoral systems; 6. Political parties and party systems, the development of party system in the CR; 7. Political system in the Czech Republic; 8. The parliament and the legislative process; 9. Human and civil rights, social policy; 10. The international position of the CR, the European integration process.

  • Preparation for exam - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to explain the basic issues of political process in the contemporary world, especially in the CR. The main themes are the society and the state, forms of government, the development of democracy in its historical context, political parties and party systems, interest groups, electoral systems, sharing of powers, the parliament and the legislative process, human and civil rights, international affairs and European integration process.

Prerequisites
Knowledge of basic POL.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

Examination Requirements: The study of literature, a literature review process to the selected topic, a case study.
