Course content
Lectures: 1. Introduction to the law, European Union law 2. Constitutional law, the structure of state power 3. Basic concepts of administrative law, administrative division, public authorities, local authorities 4. Administrative proceedings, administrative and legal liability, administrative offenses and misdemeanors 5. Civil law - concept, object, system, person, representation, legal acts, limitation of time 6. Absolute property rights - possession, ownership, joint ownership 7. Rights in rem in things of others, right of superficies (right to build), easements (servitudes, real burdens) pledge, retention right 8. Relative property rights, obligations and their formation, contracting process, joint debts and claims, change and termination of obligations, security of obligations 9. Obligations arising from torts and unjust enrichment 10. Basics of labor law I - the creation and termination of employment contract 11. Basics of labor law II - contracts on work performed outside employment contract 12. Civil proceedings, special judicial civil proceedings - course of civil proceedings 13. Regular and extraordinary remedies, enforcement/seizure 14. Reserve Exercises: 1. Legal aspects of the functioning of higher education, sources of EU law and their creation 2. Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms 3. Organization of Public Administration of the Czech Republic 4. Administrative proceedings, administrative decisions, administrative offenses 5. Introduction to private law, person, legal realities, limitation of time 6. Establishment and termination of property rights, joint ownership 7. Right of superficies (right to build), easements (servitudes, real burdens) pledge 8. Contracting process, the formation of obligations, security of obligations, termination of obligations 9. Contract types, a real estate sale contract 10. Contract of employment, dismissal 11. Contracts on work performed outside employment contract 12. Legal action and payment order 13. Credit test 14. Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of the legal system of the Czech Republic and some basic legal concepts. The course introduces students to the basics of public law and private law.
Students understand the basic principles of the legal system of the Czech Republic, focusing in the legal order of the Czech Republic, are able to write a contract of employment, legal action and transfer of property.
Prerequisites
Course is subject to high school knowledge of the law.
