Course content
|
The following topics will be presented in the course: (a) the definition and history of the biological control; b) the strategy used in the biological control (classical biological control, the biological control flood strategy, the strategy of seasonal inoculation of natural enemies and the strategy of support and conservation of natural enemies c) Classification and characterization of the most important groups of natural enemies, delimitation of the main groups and their general (taxonomic, autecological and demycological) characteristics d) Biological control against the pathogens of crop diseases (antagonistic, mycoparasitic and competitive organisms), bioproducts based on antagonistic and mycoparasitic organisms; (e) Biological control against animal pests (parasitoids, predators, pathogenic microorganisms and viruses), biological bioproducts based on entomopathogenic microorganisms, biological agents based on macroorganisms; f) the importance of biological control in the context of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and the creation of programs with a targeted preference of biological control methods of pest populations and of the propagation and development of plant disease
