In the course the student will be acquainted with the classical diagnostic methods used in the practical identification and determination of plant pathogens and crop pests (symptomatic diagnostics) as well as with biochemical methods, molecular methods and genetics methods (basic molecular biological techniques - DNA isolation and separation, PCR methods, construction of specific probes, DNA hybridization, fingerprinting of pathogenic organisms). The following topics will be presented in the course: A) Diagnostics and advice on the identification of pests and plant pathogens B) Advice on the prognosis and signaling of pests and plant pathogens C) Chemical methods - advice on the selection of pesticides in the context of current situations and with respect to ecological, toxicological and hygienic risks. D) Alternative methods of plant protection against pests and disease - advice oriented on sustainable agriculture E) Consultancy in the field of Integrated pest management (IPM) - IPM crop programme F) Advice in the protection of ornamental plants in urban areas G) Advice to small growers
