Course content
The scope is to obtain evidence for evaluation and optimising the use of TTP, including grazing land, and to assess the appropriate system and intensity of grazing. Study of the impact of grassland on the agroecosystem (soil, water, atmosphere) and criteria for assessing its impact. Root mass formation and carbon sequestration. Optimisation and regulation of stand composition through fertilisation, crop rotations and the use of new complementary forage species suitable for TTP. Classification of grasslands, their classification and categorisation. The study will be focused on the topic of the PhD thesis, using scientific literature and databases.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
  • Class attendance - 50 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 100 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 100 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Subject of the doctoral study programme. The aim is to teach the student to analyse the botanical composition of grasslands, to master approaches to grassland classification, their typological classification and categorisation, to propose optimal methods and intensity of grassland use with regard to their productive and non-productive functions, from intensive to low-intensity grasslands with a predominance of non-productive functions.
Ability to work with scientific literature, including foreign ones. Ability to analyze and synthesize the studied issues.
Prerequisites
Completion and successful completion of master's (engineering) studies.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam

The student must demonstrate theoretical knowledge of the studied subject matter in the form of an oral or combined exam. Demonstration of knowledge in a credit test or submission of a semester work to the required extent may also be a requirement.
