Course content
Growing of vegetable in the Czech Republic in comparison with EU. Propagation of vegetable plants, ways of growing and management during vegetation. Fertilization and nutrition of individual vegetable species. Crop rotations in vegetable production systems - growing in field conditions and in greenhouses, vegetable harvesting. Growing of cabbages, root, fruit, bulbous plants and leaf vegetables.

  • Semestral paper - 30 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
The main aims of the subject are to obtain basic information about importance of vegetable in human nutrition, growing of different vegetable plants in field and greenhouse conditions, propagation, nutrition, integrated protection.
Students are able to orientate in the field of vegetable production in conditions of the Czech Republic.

Standard knowledge of plant biology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam

Active participation in exercises, understanding the curriculum defined for the exam.
