Course content
1) The description of the branch Education about Citizenship and the subject Civic Education (its status in the curricular, role, aims, tasks, interdicsciplinary nature, intersubject relations etc.) 2) The development of civic education and its position in the education of 21st century. Education about citizenship as a creative workshop of thinking for 21st century (using critical thinking as a tool against consumerism)(IP 14 26/2b). 3) Paradoxes of teaching theory and practice in civic education. 4) Analysis of civic education textbooks and other teaching aids. 5) Handling with The Framework Educational Programme for Basic Schools and School Education Programmes. 6) Professional identity of civic education teacher. 7) Pupil´s /student´s personality. 8) Active acquainting students with organisational forms of teaching and effective teaching methods in civic education lessons. 9) Assessment. 10) The development of key competences. 11) Cross-section topics. 12) Preparation for a civic education teacher and his lesson (putting into practice of curriculum, thematic units and subjects). 13) Up-to-date problems of civic education (current changes in The Framework Educational Programme). 14) Preparation of pedagogical documentation and information about programmes focused on civic education teaching being carried out at schools.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Activating (simulations, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is a close interconnection of theoretical and practical didactical preparation of trainee-teachers of social sciences in a senior basic school. The course reflects the need to inform students about basic didactical literature whilst the emphasis has been put on intensive connecting with practice and obtaining and developing practical skills of students. The branch specialized didactics guides students to apply the knowledge and skills obtained from the study of social scientific disciplines with regard to the fulfilment of The Framework Educational Programme for Basic Schools. While attending seminars students will get acquainted with up-to-date didactical issues which are connected with their continuous and uninterrupted pedagogical practice (or during assistant practice). Students portfolios summarizing their teaching experience from the courses Assistant Teacher Practice, Weekly Teaching Practice and Block Teaching Practice are continuously implemented into the content of the course.
The main competetion of the graduate in the civics education should be responsibility and ability in methodic and didactics ensure the civics lesson in the framework of the subject field.
