- key situations of human life and their ritualization, the rule of rites de passage in archaic and traditional cultures and in contemporary culture - rituals and customs connected with pregnancy and childbirth in folk tradition, reflection of contemporary situation - the baptism, christening and rituals of the end of childbed - rituals and customs connected with death in folk tradition, reflection of contemporary situation - the funeral in church and secular form, transformation of burials and funeral rituals in the last century

Learning outcomes
|
- deal with the rule of key situations in human life, especially with birth and death and its expression in rituals - introduce the meaning of rituals of archaic and traditional cultures, but also in contemporary culture - deal with rituals of folk tradition and church rituals with relation to birth and death - reflection of the transformation of these rituals
The student acquires knowledge of rituals, ceremonies and customs connected with birth and death, can interpret it and compare the situation in the past (traditional society) and contemporary society.
