Course content |
Lectures: 1 - Banks - function and characteristics. 2 - Banks - history, systems. 3 - The function of central banks. 4 - The monetary policy, targets and ways to reaching targets. 5 - Commercial banking, structure and management. 6 - Statement and balance of banks, economic activities. 7 - Bak risks and rules. 8 - Credits 9 - Deposits 10 až 11 - Systems of payments 12 - Supervising and regulation of the sector. Seminars follow the topic of lectures (solving questions and ambiguities). In addition, the student demonstrates an unassisted work with legislation and statistical data (essays, seminar papers).

Learning outcomes |
The target of the course is to acquaint students with the basic concepts and relations in the field of central and commercial banking, the functioning of the banking system and basic banking products.
Students understand the basic principles of bank operations, the main banking products on the side of assets and liabilities, banking risks and forms of hedging against them, functions of the central bank, monetary policy and banking supervision and regulation. |

Credit Requirements: Active participation in seminars - maximum 3 absences, success rate of at least 60 % in the credit test, submission and presentation of the seminar paper.
