Course content
1. Introduction to visual art theory and characteristics of artistic media 3. Analysis of the artwork and the issue of its aesthetic qualities, 4. Selected chapters from the history of visual culture - medieval art 5. Selected chapters from the history of visual culture - art of the modern period 6. Selected chapters from the history of visual culture - 19th century art 7. Selected chapters from the history of visual culture - modern art 8. 2-dimensional artistic activities - study drawing of still life 9. 2-dimensional artistic activities - study drawing of head 10. 2-dimensional artistic activities - study painting of natural artifacts 11. 2-dimensional artistic activities - study painting of landscape 12. 3-dimensional artistic activities - modeling of zoomorphic themes 13. to 14. 3-dimensional artistic activities - modeling of head

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Projection, Graphic and art activities
Learning outcomes
The course is focused on basic knowledge in the field of visual culture with practical application into own art work. The theoretical part comprise the main characteristic of visual media, analysis of the artwork and reflection of its imaging, expressive and aesthetic functions. Next lessons outlines the overall development of visual culture with subsequent focus on its selected chapters. The practical part is focused on the development of the elementary artistic sensibility through work with basic artistic media.
Good orientation in the development of visual culture , the ability to characterize basic fine art media and analyze artefacts after their form and content . Basic skills in working with the 2 and 3-dimensional artistic media.

Assessment methods and criteria
Analysis of creative work (musical, visual, literary), Test

Successful completion of the test, which is mapping good orientation in the topic discussed in the theoretical part of the course. Attendance at seminars.
