Course content
1. Feeding ecology – food composition, feeding techniques, optimal foraging theory. 2. Ecology of reproduction – parental investments, sexual selection, mating, paternity, life history. 3. Population ecology – population cycles of mammals and birds, island population ecology, hybrid zones, ecological valence

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Activating (simulations, games, drama)

Learning outcomes
The seminar gives information on the specific traits of ecology of terrestrial vertebrates. It demonstrates the examples of current research activities. The topics cover the connections of ecology with morphology, physiology and biogeography
The ability to effectively use primary literature and to prepare written abstracts and powerpoint presentations. Obtaining an overview of currently solved topics in vertebrate ecology.

Knowledge at the level of the average graduate of the KZO 152 course Vertebrate Zoology
