  • Class attendance - 42 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Optional course for the Bachelor's specialisation Biology and conservation of hobby plants and animals. In zoos and private animal breeding, in zoo shops, and during custom controls, we inevitably meet high number of dead animals. To keep their body parts for exhibitions and teaching we aim to teach the basics of preparation techniques.
Students know methods of killing, preservation and preparation of main animal groups. Students are able to create temporary and permanent macroscopic and microscopic mounts of bodies and tissues.
Prerequisites
Required basic knowledge on invertebrate and vertebrate animals, mainly their morphology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Interim evaluation

Oral examination about rules and methods of preparation. Credits for practical given for the processing of animal material into exhibition and educational items.
