Course content
Characteristic of the current status of pork meat. Performance characteristics in pigs. Breeds and utility types. Selection and hybridization programs. Techniques and technology of rearing and breeding individual categories. Technological systems of feeding. Poultry production principles. Characterization of individual poultry species and types. Reproduction, egg laying, and its characteristics. Growing and fattening abilities. Feather production. Technological processes in egg production, rearing, and breeding of laying type of hens. Technical processes in rearing, breeding, and fattening of meat type of hens, turkeys, ducks, Muscovy ducks, and geese.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Excursion

Learning outcomes
The subject includes pig and poultry breeding, allowing students to learn about breeding and evaluating performance characteristics. The objective of the course is to provide students with knowledge of the most recent scientific and practical findings, which are essential for increasing performance and reaching profitability.

Standard knowledge of general zootechnics, genetics, and animal nutrition.

Combined exam, Seminar work, Interim evaluation

Active attendance at seminars. Writing of seminar paper.
