Course content
Importance of cattle breeding, production types, common breeds. Milk and meat performance and fertility. Technology of cattle breeding. Breeding of cows without commercial production of milk. Characteristics of the current status of pork meat. Performance characteristics in pigs. Breeds and utility types of pigs. Selection and hybridization programs. Techniques and technology of rearing and breeding of individual categories. Technological systems in pig feeding. Poultry production principles. Characterization of individual poultry species and types. Reproduction, egg laying, and its characteristics. Growing and fattening capacities. Egg and meat production. Feather production. Breeds and performance characteristics of sheep. Techniques of rearing. Breeds and performance characteristics in goats. Techniques of goat rearing. Technology of horse breeding and their breeding. Horse riding, horse racing, and hipotourism. Rabbit breeding current status and yield properties. Breeding work, technology of rearing and fattening.

Learning outcomes
The subject includes information about all types of farm animals and allows students to learn about breeding and how to evaluate the performance of farm animals. The objective of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of animal husbandry, which forms the basis of each agricultural firm.
Theoretical principles and practical skills for the work of technical workers in livestock production.
Prerequisites
Standard knowledge of general zootechnics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam, Seminar work, Interim evaluation

Active attendance at seminars. Writing of seminar paper.
