Course content
Feed and food analysis, chemical and physical-chemical instrumental methods, sample taking-in, laboratory methods of feed testing, determination of nutriments and energy, analysis of crude proteins, amino acids, fat, polysacharides and macroelements.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Laboratory
  • Class attendance - 12 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 25 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 15 hours per semester
  • Field trip - 4 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 20 hours per semester
  • Preparation for classes - 74 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of subject is feed and food analytics and their evaluation. Students will be informed about methods of sample taking-in, determine of feed and food nutritive value and energy values.
Competence in sampling methods. Competence in methods of laboratory testing of feed and food, preparation of samples for laboratory testing. Application of laboratory testing methods and expression of results. Ability to assess the issue of feed and food chain safety on the basis of special legislation.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of chemistry.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Test, Development of laboratory protocols

The course is completed by an exam, which precedes the continuous assessment.
