Course content
Welfare evaluation from the breeding, veterinary and etic point of view; Consciousness, feelings and suffering of animals; Hunger and thirst, Environment and housing; Pain, illness and death; Fear and stress; Welfare of farm and wild animals and animals of hobby breeding; Science and animals, Welfare and technology; Welfare in organic farmings; Legislation in the Czech republic and EUin the welfare relation; Transport of animals; Animals for sport; Animals as pets; Politics, philosophy, and economy of animal welfare.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Work with multi-media resources (texts, internet, IT technologies), Individual tutoring
  • Preparation for classes - 20 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is deeper understanding of welfare issues, methods of its evaluation, possibilities of its management and protection of animals by legislative means.
