Course content
Historical development of cattle reproduction and methods applied. The current level of cattle reproduction in the Czechia and in the world and its evaluation. Anatomy of male and female genital organs, gametogenesis and factors affecting gametogenesis. Bull sperm collection and processing techniques, sperm properties, and variability in ejaculate quality. Biological tests of sperm and evaluation methods. Fertility of cows, methods that evaluate and analyze factors that affecting their fertility. Management of reproduction in cattle herds (detection of estrous and its success, diagnosis of pregnancy). The course of parturition and treatment of calves. Embryotransfer - methods of collecting, division, transfer and conservation of embryos. Application of biotechnical methods in cattle breeding.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of Ph.D. students acquired during the master's study in the field of cattle reproduction, reproduction management of individual cattle flocks and biotechnical methods in practical breeding.
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills to operation of the work of a specialist to provide the reproduction in the cattle flocks.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology of cattle.
