Course content
Feed terminology, meaning and conversion of nutrients. Importance of nitrogenous substances, amino acids and biological value. Carbohydrates, fiber, fats - their importance in animal nutrition. Mineral nutrients. Digestibility of nutrients and factors influencing digestibility. Nutrient requirements, compilation and calculation. Feed science. Feed preparation, conservation. Production of compound feeds and use of feeds. Compilation and optimization of feed rations. Feeding of individual species and categories of livestock.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to master the theoretical foundations and practical procedures of nutrition and feeding of individual species and categories of livestock.
Competence on the importance and functions of essential nutrients in the animal organism. Ability to characterize feeds, suitability of classification for livestock. Competence for appropriate preparation and preservation of feed in relation to individual species and categories of livestock. Ability to define nutrient and energy needs, including optimization of feed diets.
Prerequisites
High school chemistry, biology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam, Test

The course is completed by an exam, which precedes the continuous assessment. Successful evaluation of tests is required to complete the course.
