Course content
Legislative rules in the field of veterinary care and animal's protection against maltreat. Health surveillance of food. Hygiene of stable environment, animal welfare. Hygiene of drinking and waste water. Animal nutrition hygiene, metabolical disorders. Alimentary intoxications and infections. Sanitation measures, disinfection, disinsection, deratisation, decontamination. Sanitation industry. Animal's health and diseases, causation of disease. Zoonoses, basic pathological processes. Natural and artificial immunological mechanisms, active and passive immunity. Economic significance of animal health, disease and health in animal welfare. Medical treatment in practice.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Demonstration, Projection

Learning outcomes
The aim of course is present concept of animal health protection, position of hygiene and animal diseases in management of farm animals.
The student has professional knowledge of the most common diseases of farm animals. Industry-specific skills include: evaluation of animal welfare, evaluation of animal health, assessment of environmental influences and breeding technology on animal health, evaluation of hygienic conditions in breeding, design of solutions to improve the hygiene of breeding and animal health. The student masters the methods and procedures of biosecurity.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of biology, zoology, animal breeding, animal nutrition, animal physiology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Development of laboratory protocols

Compulsory participation in laboratory and field exercises and organized field trips, continuous review of knowledge during the semester - tests, preparation of protocols from practical exercises.
