Course content

History. Legislation. Thermoregulation in animals. Hygiene of the stable environment. Welfare of animals. Hygiene of water and watering of animals. Waste water. Nutritional hygiene. Animal health disorders of nutritional origin. Alimentary infections and intoxication. Hygiene of buildings and stables. Environmental sanitation, disinfection, disinsection and extermination. Sanitation enterprises. Biosecurity. Obligations of breeders. Anti-disease measures. Health and disease, causes of disease. Conditions and factors affecting the infectious process. Zoonotic diseases, basic pathological processes. Defence mechanisms of the organism, natural and artificially acquired active and passive immunity. Health economics, impact of diseases on animal welfare and performance. Hygiene in primary milk production. Supervision by the SVS of the administration of veterinary medicinal products. Animal protection authorities. System and performance of veterinary control. Foreign substances in feed.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge from master´s degree in the field of zoohygiene and prevention of livestock diseases
Detailed disciplinary knowledge of livestock diseases. In-depth knowledge in evaluating animal welfare and animal health, evaluating the effects of environment and husbandry technology on animal health, evaluating hygiene conditions in livestock, proposing solutions to improve animal hygiene and health. Application of biosecurity methods and procedures. Very good knowledge of legislation related to livestock breeding and protection.

Oral examination
Compulsory consultations with the teacher, passing of an oral examination confirming the student's comprehensive orientation in the field.
