Course content
Technological procedures of feed treatment, physically mechanical, biological, chemical; heat treatment; conservation of fodder by silage, technological and technical aspects, division and possibilities of use of silage additives, treatment of fodder raw materials, production of extruded fodders, technology of harvesting and preservation of fodders; evaluation of the quality of preserved fodder and interpretation of results.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to enable DSP students to deepen their knowledge of the treatment and preservation of feedingstuffs. Completing the course eliminates the disproportion between the various forms of previous higher education completed and forms the basis for studying specialized disciplines in the given field of DSP. Upgraded methods of evaluation of feed of the European standard according to ISO standards. Biological methods of preservation of feed. Destructive and non-destructive methods of preservation of feed. Methods relating to the availability of nutrients by physical, chemical, biological and combined processes. Animal welfare and environmental protection.
Competence on the importance and functions of nutrients in the animal organism. Ability to characterize feeds, suitability of classification for livestock. Competence for appropriate preparation and preservation of feed in relation to individual species and categories of livestock. The course gives students the ability to think and decide professionally and competently.
Prerequisites
The student is familiar with the issues within the scope of university studies and is willing to study independently.

Oral examination, Seminar work

Standard knowledge of genetics, physiology and biochemistry of animals.
