Course content
Genetic structure of populations and factors of their change. Breeding of quantitative features. Characteristics and methods of studying quantitative characteristics. Genetic parameters and their use. Analysis of variation components, gene and environmental effects. Modern methods of checking the estimation of breeding value. Reliability of estimation of breeding value. Purposefull conception of selection theory, selection systems and their use, correlated selection progress. Economic weight of properties in the formation of detection indices. Hybridization theory. Organisation of breeding programmes. Breeding strategy. Markers of assisted selection QTL.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen theoretical knowledge and practical procedures of breeding work in livestock.
Significant knowledge and skills applicable in practice.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of population genetics, livestock breeding, nutrition, morphology and physiology of animals, mathematic.
