1. Introduction to the course content. Revision of selected grammatical terms. Repaso I, II. 2.-3. Alojamiento en el hotel. Grammar: imperative for the use of being on formal terms; the verb estar + adjective; the phrase al + infinitive. Communication: booking an accommodation, description of conditions of things and places. Vocabulary. Life and Institutions: Latin American countries,. 4.-5. De tiendas. Grammar: object direct and indirect; indefinite and negative pronouns and adverbs; the verb parecer. Communication: shops, kinds of goods, shopping. Vocabulary. Life and Institutions: Mexico, Colombia. 6.-7. Ambiente natural. Grammar: gerund; estar + gerund; irregular verbs in present tense simple. Communication: environmental protection, animals and plants. Vocabulary. Life and Institutions: Peru, Argentina. 8.-9. El paso del tiempo. Grammar: imperfect tense; verbal phrases with infinitive (estar a punto de, acabar de, volver a, dejar de); adverb formation. Communication: childhood, adolescence and maturation; past and the present. Vocabulary. Life and Institutions: The Inca Empire. 10.-11. La historia y los acontecimientos. Grammar: past tense simple (summary); the use of imperfect tense; preposition with direct object (accusative). Communication: important historical events, lives of famous personalities. Vocabulary. Life and Institutions: famous Latin American writers. 12.-13. Vida cultural y literaria. Grammar: practising past tenses; prepositions para / por. Communication: theatre, cinema, concert, literature. Vocabulary. Life and Institutions: culture and arts in Latin America. 14. Test, evaluation.

The main objective of the subject The Spanish Language 1 (OJA/KJSP1) is to follow the current language skills of students, push them forward and branch out to a more comprehensive grammar, vocabulary and basic professional terminology in their subject field and enable them to be able to understand professional texts and communicate in the Spanish-speaking countries.
Students will improve their language skills and abilities by means of self-study: grammar, reading, listening, writing, conversation and broaden their professional vocabulary.

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge of Spanish, ability to develop language skills steadily on the level of pre-intermediate/intermediate course level.

Written test (minimum of 50%).
