Course content
1. Subject and basic concepts of stylistics. 2. - 3. Morphologic and phonetic means of stylistics - exercises. 4. Standard and its understanding in the field of stylistics - codification and its historical variability. Variability of the standard. Language system and standard. 5. Russian national language and its forms of existence. Standard language. 6. Territorial Russian dialects. Social dialects and their position in the scope of national language. 7. Lexical and syntactic means of stylistics-exercises. 8. Stylistics of the language and speech. Spoken Russian as standard layer of national language. 9. - 10. Colloquial Czech as non-standard form of the spoken Czech. Additional style layers in the Russian and Czech language. Elements of style decrease and increase in the spoken speech - exercises. 11. Functional styles of both languages - scientific, artistic, journalistic style. 12. The standard of book language and standard of spoken Russian in comparison with jargons. 13. Norm of factual style - genre and type characterization: business letter, certificate, application, submission, purchase contract - stylistic characterization. 14. Closing the subject. Repeating. Credits.

Learning outcomes
Norms of Russian language. Functional styles and genre system. Practical stylistics - individual types of documents (request, retainer, declaration, confirmation, ...).
This subject forms in a way covering discipline for practical students` abilities, the graduates master above all performance also correction special text in light of stylistics, as well as stylistic meanings determination of basic word classes at all language levels.
Prerequisites
Advanced level in knowledge Russian morphology, phonetics and basic lexicology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Analysis of student's language skills, Test, Interim evaluation

Regular participation and active work in seminars, mastering the subject matter. Orientation in the book styles of Czech as well as Russian. Stylistic assessment of the language on practical level.
