Course content
Students will learn essential parts of calculus: 1 Introduction (goals, requirements), quick overview of basics. Mathematical symbolism, sets and propositional calculus; 2 Combinatorics and probability; 3 Vectors and matrixes, linear independence, rank of a matrix, matrix determinant; 4 Matrix inversion, system of linear equations; 5 Binary relations, elementar functions and sequences; 6 Limit of a function and continuity, derivatives; 7 Mathematical calculus: first, second and third derivative, applications; 8 Definite and undefinite integral, techniques of integration; 9 Differential equations and their applications.

Learning outcomes
Basic course of mathematics designed for students of study programme Fishery and Protection of Waters. The subject is focused on linear algebra, functions theory, differencial and integral calculus (analysis of functions of two variables included).
Student is capable of understanding and employing key parts of linear algebra and functions theory, namely fundamental algorithms of linear algebra, derivation technique, integration and extremal problems.
Prerequisites
The course of Mathematics has no prerequisites within the University programme. However, the basic knowledge (high school mathematics) is required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Test

Student attends the seminars. Credit will be granted after fulfilling these conditions: 1) Mean success rate from the short tests must be 55% or better. 2) Score 55% points or more from the credit test. Examination is written only. Minimal score to pass the examination is 55%.
