Course content
Overview of main groups of cultivated fish. History and sense of aquaristics. Aquarium as ecosystem. Technical facilities and basic prerequisitions in aquarium fish culture. Water as main aspect. For aquarium fish. Water plants. Natural food and feed mixtures. Diseases and prevention. Situation in the Czech republic. Principles of fish culture and propagation. Czech and world aquaristic economy.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is to get information about reproduction, nutrition and larvae and juvenile nursing of the most important species of ornamental fish, which have been reared in decorative tanks and aquariums. Students of this subject will meet summary of systematic nomenclature of ornamental fish during education of this subject. Main attention will be pay to reproduction, physiology and ethology of important species of ornamental fish. During lessons of this subject students will get information about: history of intensive rearing of ornamental fish in the Czech Republic and the whole world, technical equipment of aquaria and tanks for rearing of ornamental fish, intensive methods of cultivation of live feeding for ornamental fish reared under controlled conditions.
Graduate should recognize 75 basic fish species which have been used such as ornamental fish inclusive Czech and Latin nomenclature. Graduate should have knowledge about: 2) production of ornamental fish in the world and in the Cech Republic, 2) reproduction of basic group of ornamental fish, 3) culture methods and basic disease of ornamental fish, 4) culture of ornamental water plants and 5) technical equipment used during culture of ornamental fish.
Prerequisites
Good knowledge about fish anatomy and biology is good presumption for succesful graduation of this subject. Students should graduated following subjects Basic biology of ornamental fish, Controlled reproduction of fish and Intensive aquaculture before this subject.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Test

Successful graduation of test during recognition of ornamental fish species. 100% participation during practice. Successful answering during examination and sucsessul recognizing of one ornamental fish and plant during examination.
