Course content

1. Legislation EU for aquaculture. 2. Pond aquaculture in Europe. 3. Technology and instrumentations in freshwater fish culture. 4. Educational excursion to ponds fish farm, hatchery, fish stocks.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim is to give the students basic information on the ponds ecosystems, biology water animals. Focus on pond aquaculture management, fish wellfare, water quality, including the basic orientation in utilization of aquaculture products.
A graduate should be able of qualified breeding fish in different aquaculture systems (ponds, fish hatcheries). Basic knowledge of pond aquaculture management, pond harvesting, transport of live fish, fish stocking and processing.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge on the problems of Pond aquaculture 1 discoursed in the 2nd. year of Bc. curricula of Fisheries is a prerequisite for successfull passing this subject. Basic knowledge of fish biology, hydrochemistry, hydrobiology and hydrobotany is necessary.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Test, Seminar work
Participation on practise. Seminary paper. Examination test. Correct answering questions in oral examination.
