Course content
1. Introduction to the course, definition of general and professional language 2.-12.: Fields of research: 2. Language and communication, foreign languages, language diversity vs. unification 3. Reading, literature, history 4. Areas of interest and news of the natural sciences: medicine 5. Areas of interestand news of the natural sciences: physics 6. Society and culture 7. Society and politics 8. Media and journalism 9. Psychology 10. Germany, Austria, Switzerland - various cities: sights and architecture 11. Germany-Austrina-Czech border area 12. Europe - idea and reality 13. "Berufssprache" on the border between general and vocational language - communication in the place of employment 14. Test

Learning outcomes
The aim of the seminar is in the framework of various thematic areas to increase the awareness of the heterogeneous nature of each natural language, especially the basic resolution of its general and professional level. On the basis of reading texts will be drawn up specific vocabulary, terminology, phrases and means of expression characteristic for individual areas of communication, which the students will practice in typical situations, but also contrastively through interpretation and short translations.
Ability to communicate on level B2+/C1.
Prerequisites
German language skills on the level B2+/C1 (CEFR).

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Student performance assessment, Analysis of student's language skills, Test, Interim evaluation

Active participation in the course, final test containing vocabulary and grammatical exercises. The course will be taught in German.
