Course content
1. Introduction, basic information and basic perception of the discipline 2. Linguistics as a science 3. Language and its characteristics 4. History of Language, Germanic languages 5. Historical development "Hochdeutsch" 6. Grammatical structure of Germanic languages, Phonetics 7. Written German language, the German position in the Czech country 8. Morphology 9. Syntax 10. Lexicology, Semiotics 11. Dialectology 12. Austrian German, Swiss German 13. Linguistic discipline, Dictionaries

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book)
Learning outcomes
Students will learn the German language from the perspective of different linguistic disciplines, get acquainted with the most important literature. The course also presents the basic terminology and the most important aspects of linguistic disciplines and the students gain a comprehensive overview of the German language, its culture and history.
The students will get an overwiew on primary and secondary literature about the most important linguistic sciences, they will learn to work with diverse types of dictionaries and grammars and to search information sources. They will study the principles of scientifical work (structure of a scientifical work, citation, exploration of the facts) and they will be able to apply them in their practical experience.
Prerequisites
The course assumes a basic overview and a good knowledge of the German language (A2/B1).
