Course content
1. Review of literature on the topics 2. Short definition of the key concepts of phraseology 3. Review of the origins of phraseologisms in both languages 4. Phraseology and czech and german phraseologisms in the European and Slavic context 5. Phraseologisms I 6. Phraseologisms II and summary 7. Biblical phraseologisms in German and Czech 8. Proverbs definitions and examples 9. Proverbs general comparation of czech and german proverbs (similarities) 10. Proverbs general comparation of czech and german proverbs (differences in contents and formation) 11. Phraseologisms and proverbs based on topics (presentations) 12. Phraseologisms and proverbs based on topics (presentations) 13. Trends in phraseology 14. Summary and evaluation

Learning outcomes
This course focuses on improvement of knowledges in the area of comparative linguistic and phraseology. The main aims of the course are to compare czech and german proverbs and phraseologisms and to discuss their similarities and differences in the etymology.
Students will gain on the basis of practically surveyed phrasal phenomena in the field of German linguistics an overview on the existence of agreement and differences of phrasal terms between the two languages.
Prerequisites
A prerequisite to the study of the subject is in addition to the completion of the bachelor degree focused on the German language also the completion of the course Contrastive Linguistics in the context of the follow-up master's degree studies ČNAS.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Seminar work

Regular preparation for the seminar, active work in the seminar, each student must prepare one paper on the selected topic Performance of continuously input tasks. The subject will be taught in the German language.
