| Course content | 
| Content of laboratory excercises:   Exercise No. 1: Determination of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in water after liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) using gas chromatography with electron capture detection (GC-MS/MS).  Exercise No. 2: Determination of triazine pesticides in water after solid phase extraction (SPE) using gas chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry detection (GC-MS/MS).  Exercise No. 3: Determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soil after solid-liquid extraction (SLE) using high-performance liquid chromatography with spectrophotometric and fluorescence detection (LC-UV/VIS-FLD).  Exercise No. 4: Determination of antibiotic ciprofloxacin in water using high-performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry detection (LC-MS/MS). |

| Basic knowledge of principles of gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, spectrophotometric detection, fluorescence detection and mass detection (target analysis). Good knowlegde of chemical nomenclature and chemical calculations. |

| Development of laboratory protocols To pass the course student must perform all laboratory exercises and hand in all laboratory protocols worked out in sufficient quality. |
