Course content
Content of practicals: Two complete procedures using liquid chromatograph coupled to mass detector (LC/MS) and gas chromatograph coupled to mass detector (GC/MS). Each procedure covers: - analytical method optimization - sample storage and handling - sample homogenization - analyte extraction - extract purification - analyte preconcentration - instrumental chemical analysis - data evaluation - results presentation

Learning outcomes
To acquire knowledge of common procedures which are performed during analyses of real samples using chromatographic methods and mass spectrometry detection.
Student will acquire basic knowledge of complete procedure of analysis of real samples, which covers all steps from sample preparation up to quantitative analysis including method optimization.
Basic knowledge of principles of gas chromatography, liquid chromatography and mass detection (target analysis). Good knowlegde of chemical nomenclature and chemical calculations.

Development of laboratory protocols

To pass the course student must perform all laboratory exercises and hand in all laboratory protocols worked out in sufficient quality.
