Course content
Content of lectures: Audio Technology Audio signal description, bands, features, frequency and time Analysis, signal Transformations: Fourier, Fast Fourier and Discrete Fourier (FT, FFT, DFT), Wavelets Sound and Music processing Signal digitalization, AD convertors, human ear anatomy, signal recording, compression. Studio and Music engineering, DAW software, recording and data processing software, MIDI standard, virtual instruments VST. Video Technology Video signal, human eye anatomy, video and snapshot taking, TV standards NTSC, PAL, MPEG-2 digitalization, bandwith, multiplex, entertainment studio components. Displays principles, CRT, LCD, plasma, Dolby-SR standard, Digital Surround. Principles of picture and video compressing, JPEG, TIFF, RAW, MPEG-4, AVI, DivX. Storage Media Fundamentals of analog and digital media. Principles of LP, tape, VHS, DAT, Audio, SACD, CD-ROM, DVD, DL, Blue-ray Content of practicals: Practicals will be provided in to the two parts. First part will be focused on computer using and experiments in test room. During second part students will be divided into the Teams to produce Audiovisual project. I.part, Practices Discrete Fourier Transformation. Computer laboratory, MATLAB. Hearing tests, physiology, psychology and music acoustic. Test room. Signal frequency features measuring, dynamic, ratio S/N. Test room. Sound signals compressing, psycho-acoustic dependences. Test room. Snapshot, computer processing. Computer laboratory. Picture processing, filtration, bright set up, histogram, geometrical transformations. Computer laboratory. II.part, Audiovisul Project Planning and production of entertainment Project. Recording, processing, post-production. Test room, Computer laboratory, outside if required.

Learning outcomes
The course is useful for students of technical as well as physics and computer science to acquire the basics of audio and video technology. Expand their knowledge of how to record, process and store data.
Gaining knowledge of acoustics, audio and video technology, based on them the graduate will be able to orient in the basic parameters of audiovisual technology, use this technique and understand their physical nature and principles. Knowledge of basic principles of audio and video equipment, processing and recording of optical and acoustic signals, errors in AD / DA conversion of these signals, advantages and disadvantages of digitized audio and video.
Prerequisites
Advance knowledge of mathematics and physics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Development of laboratory protocols

Attendance at exercises of at least 80%. Elaboration of semester work. Submission of protocols (usually two) prepared on the basis of processed tasks.
