Course content
Content of lectures: The safety when working with electricity. Fundamentals of circuit theory, Kirchhoff rules. Electrical circuits solving: Thévenin's theorem, Norton's theorem, the Method of loop currents and Node voltages. Single-phase systems in the steady harmonic shape. Observations of harmonic Voltage and Current, comprehensive, and exponential Vector shape. Phase diagram, SKM. Three-phase system. Basic, star-triangle, reactive and active current, power factors. Electric power and energy. Ideal and real transformer, autotransformer, measuring transformers. Induction motors. Synchronous motors. AC generators. DC machines. Semiconductors. PN junction, diode rectifiers, Zener diode, Schottky diode. Bipolar transistors. Parameters, h characteristics, setting and stabilization of operating point. Transistor as an amplifier and switch. Flip-flops. Semiconductor's regulation, thyristor, diac, triac. Operational amplifiers, characteristics and basic circuits. Content of practicals: Analysis of electrical circuits, phase diagram. Measurement of the basic electrical parameters, voltage, current, resistance. Working with electrical kits, flip-flops, a network of resistors, a photodiode, a transistor. Measurements with an oscilloscope. Measurement of real power. circuits, comparing observed and theoretical fair values. Working with electro/wiring components for one-phase circuits: Power cord, circuit breaker, switch, motor, timer, bridges, color coded. Basic wiring of electrical engineering, light circuit, stair connections, etc. Test.

Learning outcomes
It acquaints students with major areas of electrical engineering. Fundamentals of electric circuits, their analysis and solutions, measuring voltage and current, electrical machinery, semiconductor elements in electrical safety.
To obtain a knowledge of electrotechnics, basic method of el. circuits analysis, principles of rotary and non rotary el. machines. A student will be able to analyse and solve basic electrotechnics tasks and he/she will also understand the technical principles.
Advance knowledge of mathematics and physics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Combined exam, Development of laboratory protocols, Interim evaluation

Knowledge of basic principles of electrical machines and devices, DC and AC current, an electrical device handling safety, mathematical methods of complex numbers, el. circuits analysis.
